Georgian konfliktin jälkimainingeissa seuraavassa muutama teesi kontekstin täydennykseksi. Ensinnäkin onko Kosovon itsenäisyyden tunnustus esimerkkinä muille separatistihankkeille? Vaikka länsivallat kuinka vannoisivat ratkaisun ainutlaatuisutta ei illä ole merkitystä kun separistit itse pitävät sitä rohkaisevana esimerkkinä. Kosovo, Etelä-Ossetia ja Abhaasia – Transnistria on ehkä seuraava. Transnistria on ollut käytännössä itsenäinen jo toista kymmentä vuotta, valtiorakenteita siellä on kehitetty jopa EU raporttienkin mukaan tyydyttävästi, taloutta on yksityistetty ja vientiä on jo lähes sataan maahan. Aika näyttää tapahtuuko tämä ero sopuisasti vai kriisin kautta.
